Here are Top 10 uncommonly used Filipino words that are rarely used because they are uncommonly used.

  • Maaligasgas – Maaligasgas is the word for a feeling when the floor feels dusty or sandy and it needs to be cleaned.
  • Maniniyot – Maniniyot is commonly known as “Taga-Picture” in tagalog but in English, it is known as Photographer
  • Maalimuom – This pertains to the fresh smell of rain after a rainy day, and yes, that is also the scent of wet soil after rain.
  • Kuwarta – City folk aren’t used to this word but people in the countryside are! Kuwarta actually means money and is commonly known as pera!
  • Pantablay – What do you get when your phone is almost dead? A charger! Pantablay literally means charger in but in tagalog and it could be handy when asking your grandparents where your charger is at.
  • Kartamuneta – This word is probably the next important thing in your bag besides your phone and this translates to English as Wallet!
  • Urat – this means that someone is already having a sick feeling in a certain place or is already impatient.
  • Bilnuran – this word in Filipino, when translated to English, is actually Arithmetic!
  • Bato-Balani – Who knew that there is a Tagalog meaning for Science? And here it is! Bato-Balani!
  • Kubyerta – This word is actually the literal meaning of the deck of a Ferry Boat!
